Tile Calculator

Estimate tiles needed from project area, tile size, and waste allowance.

How this tool works

Estimate tile quantity before buying materials for a floor, wall, or backsplash. CasaLabs calculators keep assumptions visible, use source-backed formulas, and avoid storing personal information.

How to use it

  1. Enter the project area in square feet.
  2. Enter one tile’s length and width in inches.
  3. Add waste allowance and tiles per box.

Formula

Tiles = ceiling(project area ÷ tile area × (1 + waste percent)); boxes = ceiling(tiles ÷ tiles per box).

Example

A 100 sq ft project with 12 in by 12 in tiles and 10% waste needs about 110 tiles. With 10 tiles per box, buy 11 boxes.
